Electrical Facts
Know your power strip
- Heating appliances typically draw more power than small electronics, so they can place a much greater load on an electrical circuit.
- A power strip adds outlets, but it does not necessarily protect against power surges. Surge protection is a separate feature.
- A power strip’s watt or amp rating sets how much power it can handle. The number of outlets does not determine its capacity.
