Permits and inspections

When you reach out, share your location, the rooms or equipment involved, and what you want to change. Photos of the space and product information can help explain the project. For a remodel, mention whether walls are open and your intended schedule. You can bring several small updates into the same discussion so the estimate reflects your full list.

Residential Permits & Inspections

We Handle the Paperwork. You Keep the Peace of Mind.

When you hire us, we pull the necessary electrical permits for our residential work and manage the required inspection process from start to finish. We handle the paperwork and coordinate with the appropriate electrical permitting authority, whether that is Washington Labor & Industries or a local inspection department. You get clear explanations of what happens next and what access we need from you.

Why Do Residential Electrical Permits Matter?

Safety & Code Compliance: Permits and inspections help verify that your new electrical work meets the adopted National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local requirements, helping protect your family from fire and shock hazards.

Home Insurance Protection: Unpermitted electrical work can complicate an insurance claim. Keeping permit and inspection records documents the work completed in your home. Coverage depends on your policy and insurer.

Home Resale Value: Unpermitted work can come to light during a home sale and lead to questions, corrections, or delays. Documented electrical approvals help you show buyers how your improvements were completed.

Common Home Projects Requiring a Permit

  • Upgrading or replacing an electrical panel (breaker box).
  • Installing a dedicated EV charging station or its electrical circuit.
  • Adding new circuits for home additions, kitchen remodels, or hot tubs.
  • Replacing old knob-and-tube or aluminum wiring.

We confirm the permit and inspection requirements for your particular project before the work begins.

What to Expect During the Inspection Process

  1. Rough-In Inspection: When the project includes wiring that will be concealed, the inspector checks it after installation and before drywall or other finishes cover it.
  2. Final Inspection: Once the electrical work is complete, including the switches, outlets, and fixtures in our scope, we arrange the final inspection. For a remodel or addition, this typically follows the drywall and finish work.
  3. The Visit: We request inspections and coordinate access with you. Arrange for someone age 18 or older to let the inspector in, or agree on another suitable access arrangement with us in advance. Children under 18 must not be left at the inspection site without an adult present.

The inspections your project needs depend on its scope. We explain the required visits, address any corrections within our agreed electrical scope, and keep you informed through final electrical approval.
